Recently laid-off Djuro is grateful that his former boss has arranged an apprenticeship for him in a rural garage, where he is well received by his new employer Gajas. At first the small town looks like a picture-perfect place of tranquility and easy-going life until Djuro meets local beauty Bronja, wife of the small-time mobster Lepec. Soon Djuro discovers that provincial life isn't nearly as tranquil as he first thought. Rooster's Breakfast is packed with colorful, eccentric characters and subplots. Central among them is garage owner Gajas who is obsessed with pop-singer Severina. Coupled with the blossoming love affair between Djuro and Bronja, this obsession leads to a series of tragi-comic incidents.

Vasil Levski Educational and Cultural Foundation together with SEE FEST is launching this series as a community program for the audiences of Bulgarian origin as well as other interested groups in the San Diego area. The goal of this program is to present films that connect us to our roots, and provide a larger experience for our neighbors outside of our own communities to learn about the cultures of South East Europe through representative films from the region.
